I am looking in chapter 12 (Monte Carlo Simulation Studies). I am trying to find examples where data is simulated for mixture models. Are there any examples?

A second question...I was told there was an article in MBR that criticized mixture modeling. I can not seem to locate this article do you have a specific reference?

Thank you!

All of the mixture examples in Chapters 7 and 8 have Monte Carlo counterpart examples that were used to generate data for the regular examples. These are on the CD and the website.

I don't have this reference. Search under the author Bauer in MBR and Psych Methods.

Hi,

I was looking at someone's code for simulating multilevel data with latent classes. I am trying to figure out what each line of these code mean?

montecarlo:
.
.
genclasses = cb(2 b) c(2);
classes = cb (2) c(2);
.
.

model population:
%within%
%overall%

fw by u1@1 u2-u20*1;
.
.
[c#1*0.5];

%between%
%overall%
by u1@1 u2-u20*1;
.
.
[cb#1*0];

My question is what do these lines of code mean:
[c#1*0.5];
[cb#1*0];

How do I interpret them?

Thanks.

They are logits for the categorical latent variable c and cb.
