Dear. Muthen I want to write a paper using two level DSEM. I will do simulation study by referring to Schultzberg & Muthen (2018) and McNeish (2019). 1. It's very basic, but I have to generate data and analyze it. according to the syntax in both papers, the code included in the MODEL POPULATION is multiplied by the numbers. How is this number defined (selected)? Am I arbitrarily deciding? ex) % BETWEEN % w*0.119; [w*0]; Y ON w*0.41; Y*0.07;[Y*0.5]; phi ON w*0.31; phi*0.04;[phi*0.2]; logv ON w*0.225; logv*0.02;[logv*-1.18]; ~~ Schultzberg & Muthen (2018) 2. One of my models is number 3 of the nine models of Monte Carlo study, and the other is a model with Y on X in the within level of model 3. Should I consider R^2 and effect size because X is independent variable? |

Sounds like you haven't done a simulation study before. Study this paper on our website as a first step: Muthén, L.K. & Muthén, B.O. (2002). How to use a Monte Carlo study to decide on sample size and determine power. Structural Equation Modeling, 4, 599-620. Mplus inputs and outputs used in this paper can be viewed and/or downloaded from the Examples page. download paper contact first author show abstract |
