They say latent variables with more than 6 indicators will very rarely get a p-value on the chi-square above .05. If doing confirmatory factor analysis on an 11 item scale, chi-square p-value is <.001.>.05. Why is that? |

sorry linda I input the wrong content. Here is the right one. If doing CFA on an 11 items scale, chi-square p-value is below .001, if 11 items changed to 6, the chi square is above.05. Why is that? what the relationship among number of indiator, chi-square and p-value? |

It is not the number of factor indicators that is the issue. It is how well they measure that factor. |
