

Why does number of indicators affect ...

They say latent variables with more than 6 indicators will very rarely get a pvalue on the chisquare above .05. If doing confirmatory factor analysis on an 11 item scale, chisquare pvalue is <.001.>.05. Why is that?

sorry linda I input the wrong content. Here is the right one. If doing CFA on an 11 items scale, chisquare pvalue is below .001, if 11 items changed to 6, the chi square is above.05. Why is that? what the relationship among number of indiator, chisquare and pvalue? 


It is not the number of factor indicators that is the issue. It is how well they measure that factor.
