My colleagues and I are running into system requirement issues with ML estimation. We are thinking of investing in a new computer, but it's hard to predict what we might encounter down the road. So my question is: what are the specs of the machine(s) you use to test out more memory-and-time-intensive models? What would you recommend as an optimal set up for reasonable but computationally intensive scenarios? any help or advice would be appreciated!

I use "Computer 3" mentioned in the Version 4.2 timing information that you see under Version History. So 4 processors (32-bit). But things have improved since then and several Mplus users have 8-processor computers (particularly useful for complex mixture modeling with many random starts), some from well-known companies and some built for them from lesser known companies. And 64-bit allows more RAM to be accessed and is a little faster than a comparable 32-bit. We don't like to recommend beyond these general comments. See also our web site under System Requirements.
