I have a dataset of 276 nurses nested in 56 units. I want to test a model as I attach for your perusal. In my model, the only individual level outcome variable is nurse performance and the rest are at the unit level. I wonder if I can test this model using multilevel path analysis in Mplus.

Best regards,

Bulent

Group LMX --> group level conflict --> group level Climate-->individual performance

Yes, you can do this in Mplus. Individual performance is specified on Within as

%Within%
indperf;

and then on Between your consider its random mean (the part that varies over Between-level units) as a DV in a regression on Between-level variables in line with the mediation model you show above:

%between%
indperf ON climate;
climate ON .....

The Between-level covariates need to be on the Between= list.

Thank you! I guess I can also test the interaction effect of two between-level variables on another between-level variable such as

group LMX * group interdependence --> group conflict
