Dear Muthen,
I have got the following error message. how could I deal with it?
Thank you very much.

two level CFA

*** FATAL ERROR

THE SAMPLE BETWEEN COVARIANCE MATRIX COULD NOT BE INVERTED. THIS CAN
OCCUR IF A VARIABLE HAS NO VARIATION, OR IF TWO VARIABLES ARE PERFECTLY
CORRELATED, OR IF THE NUMBER OF CLUSTERS IS NOT GREATER THAN THE NUMBER
OF VARIABLES. CHECK YOUR DATA. THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO:

NUMBER OF VARIABLES : 62
NUMBER OF CLUSTERS : 39

You need to have more clusters than variables. You will need to cut down the size of your model.

Dear Linda,
Thank you very much.
Any other methods?

Edward

I don't know of any methods where you can take clustering into account when you have more variables than clusters.
