Hello, when I change my lca-model: TITLE: lpa englisch 2 classes; DATA: file is englisch.dat; format is 1f10 8f4; VARIABLE: names are idstud ekenntn bedemut bedevat eunter umgange werte eltinte sampwgt; classes = c(2); weight is sampwgt; ANALYSIS: type = mixture; OUTPUT: tech1; tech8; to three or more classes, mplus tells me that THE MODEL ESTIMATION DID NOT TERMINATE NORMALLY DUE TO AN ILL-CONDITIONED FISHER INFORMATION MATRIX. CHANGE YOUR MODEL AND/OR STARTING VALUES. THE MODEL ESTIMATION DID NOT TERMINATE NORMALLY DUE TO A NON-POSITIVE DEFINITE FISHER INFORMATION MATRIX. THIS MAY BE DUE TO THE STARTING VALUES BUT MAY ALSO BE AN INDICATION OF MODEL NONIDENTIFICATION. THE CONDITION NUMBER IS -0.143D-16. THE STANDARD ERRORS OF THE MODEL PARAMETER ESTIMATES COULD NOT BE COMPUTED. THIS IS OFTEN DUE TO THE STARTING VALUES BUT MAY ALSO BE AN INDICATION OF MODEL NONIDENTIFICATION. CHANGE YOUR MODEL AND/OR STARTING VALUES. PROBLEM INVOLVING PARAMETER 1. which all refers to the same ‘reason’, I guess. Why is that and how can I change it? Thank you. |

Do you really intend to have your student id variable as a latent class indicator? If not, you need to use the USEVARIABLE option. Please see the user's guide. If you continue to have problems, please send your input, data, output, and license number to support@statmodel.com. These types of data dependent problems cannot be solved without this information. |
