I am a PhD student so please forgive my limited understanding of this topic...

I was wondering if there is some way in which the (r3step) command can be used to regress a categorical latent variable (latent class) onto another categorical latent class variable?

In other words, would it be possible to ask Mplus to run:

"AUXILIARY = cx(r3step)" where cx is a latent class?

Could this be achieved by specifying something like:

MODEL cx:
%cx#1%
[u1$1-u4$1];
%cx#2%
[u1$1-u4$1];
MODEL cy:
%cy#1%
[y1-y4];
%cy#2%
[y1-y4];
%cy#3%
[y1-y4];

Or would Latent Transition Analysis be the more appropriate approach (my data are measured at only one time point)?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The AUXILIARY list is for observed variables not used in the analysis.

Latent Transition Analysis requires more than one time point.
