Conceptualizing the mixture of a growth model is fairly straight-forward. The mixtures would represent groups of individuals with simiar trajectories. But what does the multilevel mixture model represent if the data is cross-sectional? For example, what do the mixtures represent if students are nested in schools? Are the students sorted into classes, or the schools? Is there a way of finding mxitures of level two variables (such as separating schools into clusters)? |

Usually classes consist of individuals. With multilevel mixture modeling they can be of schools, for example. See the Version 4.2 Addendum Examples which are on the website with the user's guide. |
