Conceptualizing the mixture of a growth model is fairly straight-forward. The mixtures would represent groups of individuals with simiar trajectories. But what does the multilevel mixture model represent if the data is cross-sectional? For example, what do the mixtures represent if students are nested in schools? Are the students sorted into classes, or the schools?
Is there a way of finding mxitures of level two variables (such as separating schools into clusters)?
