Hello. Could you clarify whether it's possible to fit growth curve models with cross-classified data? For example I have health outcome data for patients measured over time, but they are not nested within doctors. People move between or are assessed by different drs over time. I'm currently using Mplus 7.3. Thank you |

Yes, this is possible. |

Are there any examples of how this might look? With the usual wide format data there would have to a cluster variable at each time point for each person |

Changes over doctors represents analysis referred to as Multiple Membership modeling (change in cluster membership) and Mplus does only a limited version of this with a single change - see the August 2012 workshop handout on our website "V7Part3", slides 57 - Growth modeling represented as cross-classified analysis is exemplified in the Version 8 UG ex 9.27. |
