Hello,

I'm running a linear growth model. I'm interested in area under the growth curve as a predictor of a distal outcome. Can mplus either calculate or estimate each individuals area under the curve. One way is to obtain each individuals estimated slope and intercept and use that information to calculate AUC. Is there another way of doing this? Can a latent variable be used to model AUC rather than extracting growth factor and calculating AUC scores as I mentioned? I can find very little about AUC being used in latent variable modeling in general, any reason for this (perhaps this is a better question for SEMNET)?

Thanks very much, Eric

There is not an automatic way to get this in Mplus but as you say you can work with factor scores. You may want to ask on SEMNET.
