Hello,

I apologize if this is a simple question, but when I run my path analysis I have been getting "unknown option:" followed by one of my variables (not a command). When I removed said dichotomous variable, my analysis came back with the error "unknown option:" followed by a different variable (this time a ratio variable). Is this a common issue? I checked, and all my missing cases are -9999 so I don't think that's the issue.
Thanks!
Kelsey

Sounds like a simple syntax error, perhaps involving a missing semi colon. If you can't find it, send output to Support with your license number.

Thanks so much, I'll do that!

Hi,

I get the following error over and over again. I am trying to convert my Spss file into .csv, it might be due to that but i could not find what is wrong.

"ERROR in VARIABLE command
Unknown option:"

It gives the name of a variable, and if I delete that one, for the next variable it says the same thing.

Can you help me with this problem? Thank you.

Hi, I'm also receiving the unknown option error for one of my variable commands, and I don't know why.

I am trying to use the lagvar command.

usevariables = TAd SD OPEN...;
lagvar = TAd(1);

If it makes a difference, my data type is imputation.

I thought it made more sense to create the lag variable from the imputed data, not create the lag variables in the incomplete data set, and then impute the missing lag variables.

Perhaps this is wrong?

Thanks so much for any guidance.

The lagvar option is a feature of the forthcoming Version 8. So not yet here.

Thank you, Bengt. That does explain the error, and why I couldn't find anything about the command in the user guide. Is there an alternative for creating lag variables in the present version? I am struggling to find any guidance or examples on this and other forums.

Thank you again for your help.

It's probably best to create them outside Mplus.

I'm trying to obtain the variance decomposition for a 3-level model but I"m not sure how to get the level 3 variance. I have repeated measures over time nested within patients (Level 2), nested within clinicians (Level 3). I thought mplus automatically accounts for the 2 level nesting of patients over time, so that it is not necessary to include patient as a cluster variable - is that correct?

When I run the syntax for "Type = twolevel random with cluster = clinician ID (i.e the level 3 cluster variable) it only gives me the variance at level 1 (62%) and Level 2 (12%) which i assume corresponds to repeated measures and clients, respectively? How do i get the level 3 variance?

when I run a model with the level 2 cluster variable (in this case client) I get different variances (Level 1 = 54% and Level 2 = 17%). how do i understand the difference in variance in these 2 models.

I then tried running a 3-level intercept only model using this syntax:
USEVARIABLES ARE y ;
CLUSTER= clinid clieid;
TYPE = THREELEVEL RANDOM;

MODEL:
%WITHIN%
y;
!BETWEEN client%
y;
%BETWEEN clinician%
y;

but i get an error that says "Unknown variables: %BETWEEN in line: %BETWEEN CLINICIAN%"

Any help on a) how to get the level 3 variance component and b) how to fix the syntax error I'm getting would be greatly appreciated.

Your Cluster statement has to say that patient is level 2. Perhaps you are thinking of the wide-format approach to repeated measures where you don't have to do that. Also, your %Between% has to use the exact names given in your Cluster statement. If this doesn't help, send your output to Support along with your license number.

Hello!

I apologize in advance because this is probably just a syntax error.
I am trying to conduct a latent growth curve analysis (lgca) using FIML to handle missing data. I am running the exact same syntax than the last time and it says:

*** ERROR in Analysis command
Unknown option:
LRTSTARTS

I checked the lines and semi colons but I am not able to find why it fails. If I remove the LRTSTARTS option in the ANALYSIS command and the tech14 output the lgca analysis is performed normally. Any ideas why this might happen?

I also tried different numbers for the LRTSTARTS option.

So sorry again and thank you in advance!

The option is described on page 693 of the UG. If this doesn't help, send your output to Support along with your license number.

Thank you!

I was about to send the output when I remembered that I had a new computer. I tried installing the 5.2 version and it worked!

Just in case this can be helpful to someone else.

Thanks again and sorry!

Version 5.2 is very far from the current 8.4 in both time and capabilities.
