Dear Bengt and Linda,

I apologise if this question has been previously asked. I have looked for it but could be that I missed it.

I am wondering can one CFA measurement model include both continuous and categorical (categorical/binary/etc) variables combined or do they need to be separate?
Is the example below allowed?

VARIABLE: NAMES ARE u1-u3 y4-y6;
CATEGORICAL ARE u1 u2 u3;
MODEL: f1 BY u1-u3 y4 y5

Or does one measurement model require all variables to be continuous and the other measurement model require all variables to be categorical including binary?

Many thanks

Factor indicators can be a combination of different variables types, for example, categorical and continuous.
