MC sample size simulation with catego...

Message/Author

I am preparing to complete a Monte Carlo simulation to ascertain the sample size needed to complete a CFA of survey data. I have read both the Muthen and Muthen, 2002 paper and the section in Brown's 2006 CFA book, so have a fairly good grasp of the syntax needed to complete the simulation. My question is how do I indicate in the syntax that my simulated data should be categorical and range in value from 1 to 4? I see where the parameter estimation method is noted: (ANALYSIS: ESTIMATOR = ML in the case of the Brown syntax, which I will change to WLSMV for my simulation). But what syntax should I use to indicate categorical data? Thank you for your assistance.

The GENERATE option of the MONTECARLO command is used to specify this. See the user's guide for further information.

Thank you. If I understand the User's Guide correctly, for categorical data with 4 options for each variable, my syntax would be (I have 11 variables): GENERATE = q1q3 (3 p) q5q10 (3 p) q12 (3 p) q14 (3 p);

This looks correct.
