Hello, I am running an interaction between Age and a Latent Change Score variable. I'm having trouble understanding the output. Specifically, I'm wondering why the covariates and the main effects are not included in the same model as the interaction.

Model:
!BETA
sestem_2 ON sesteem @1;
SE12 BY sestem_2 @1;
SE12 ON sesteem*;
!PSI
sesteem*; Sestem_2@0; SE12*;

!BETA
ps_3 ON ps_2 @1;
PS23 BY ps_3 @1;
PS23 ON ps_2*;
!PSI
ps_2*; ps_3@0; PS23*;

!BETA
int | age XWITH SE12;
PS23 ON status ses educ income sesteem age SE12 int;

Order of model output:

PS23 ON SE12 INT

SE12 ON SESTEEM

PS23 ON PS_2 STATUS SES EDUC INCOME SESTEEM AGE

I'm wondering why the covariates (including my main effect of age) is separated from the interaction model (when in my syntax, they are all the the same line).

Any clarification on this would be very helpful - thank you!

Mplus parses the ON statements by separating observed covariates from latent covariates and this is how the Mplus gets printed. This does not impact the results.
