Dear all,

how do I interpret the factor loadings in a factor mixture model, where thresholds, factor loadings and are variances freely estimated across classes (FMM-4)?

For example, for one item I find a factor loading of 16.478 in the first class, and loadings between 0 and 1 in all other classes. Shouldn't all loadings be between -1 and 1? What would such a huge loading in the first class tell me?

Thank you very much in advance.

Huge loadings typically occur together with large thresholds - which means that the item isn't working well for the latent class in question. Also, for interpretation, see FMM papers on our web site under Factor Mixture Analysis.
