Modeling parallel processes |

Using growth modeling, I am trying to model growth in symptoms of depression (a somewhat continuous variable) and number of cigarettes smoked per month (a zero-inflated count variable) as parallel processes. In my model, I treat depression and smoking as continuous variables (following Example 6.13 from the Mplus 3 User's Manual). I am wondering whether it is possible to do this type of model with one continuous variable and one count variable. If so, what is the required syntax? |

Yes, you can have one growth model for a continuous outcome and another for a count outcome. You would use the COUNT option to specify that the variable is a count variable. See Examples 6.6 and 6.7 for further specifications. |
