Hi Linda,

I am using several categorical covariates, e.g., age, for trajectory analysis.

Can I use age as categorical variable using categorical=age?

Or should I create dummy variable for each age, such as age1 (1 if age=1, 0=otherwise), age2 (1 if age=2, 0=otherwise)...

Thank you for your help.

The CATEGORICAL statement is for dependent variables only. Observed exogenous independent variables can be binary or continuous. You can treat age as continuous or create a set of dummy variables.
