Linda /Bengt

I would like to ask a question about the CFA part of a multiple indicator growth model.

Does the EFA and CFA step not take into account the nested structure of the data? For example it does not appear that a multilevel factor analysis is conducted prior to fitting a growth model to hierarchically nested data. Or is the nested structure completely handled by the growth model.
Thanks

When data are in the wide format, clustering due to individuals and time are automatically taken care of by multivariate modeling.

Is there a reference that you know of that explains your point in more detail?

Thanks

See either the Bollen and Curran growth modeling book or the Raudenbush and Bryk multilevel book where the multivariate approach is discussed.
