Hi,

I have two questions. One how would I be able to turn the IRT model (Mplus user's guide example 5.5) into a Rasch model.

How would I interpret the thresholds for the Rasch model?

The Rasch model has equal discrimination parameters (and typically unit variance for the factor). So in terms of ex 5.5 you would say:

Model:

f by u1-u20* (1);
f@1;

The thresholds in this modeling translate to the Rasch difficulties (the "b" parameters in terms of the logistic IRT model with logit = a(factor - b)) as

b = threshold/loading.

Has the IRT model been extended to polytomous answer choices? That is, has anyone used this model to examine Likert type scales (i.e., strongly disagree, disagree, agree, strongly agree) types of data? Thank you.

Yes. Search for references containing "graded response".
