1) (How) can I control categorical, between-person variables in RDSEM?

2) Suppose I want to control for gender, would it work the way suggested below or how do I have to deal with categorical moderators?

MODEL:
%WITHIN% !Specify the random lagged relationships

alpha | a^ ON a^1;
beta | a^ ON a^1;
a ON day;

gamma | b^ ON b^1;
delta | b^ ON b^1;
b ON day;

a WITH b;

%BETWEEN% !allow all random effects to covary

alpha WITH beta-delta a b;
beta WITH gamma delta a b;
gamma WITH delta a b;
delta WITH a b;
a WITH b;

!control for gender

alpha beta gamma delta ON gender;

You are handling gender correctly. But these statements don't make sense:

alpha | a^ ON a^1;
beta | a^ ON a^1;

I don't see why you are repeating what you have on the RHS of |

Thank you for confirming my suggestion.

And of course, you are right. My mistake. it was supposed to be this:

alpha | a^ ON a^1
beta | b^ ON a^1

gamma | b ON b^1
delta | a^ ON b^1
