Hi, In an EFA we have arrived at an adequetly fitted structure with 3 factors without any estimation problems. However, one of these factors only contains two variables as the other variables loading on this factor showed poor and non-significant loading (<0.3) and were omitted. Of course estimating a factor with only 2 variable in isolation is not possible, but within a factorial structure where this factor is being correlated with other factors the estimation does not seem to suffer! The factor also bears important and substantively interpretable information, What would be the cons of retaining a factor with only 2 indicators/variables in such a case, and can it be done? |
