Hello, I need to get the factor score weights used by Mplus to calculate the factor scores. I need to give the factor scores' computation formula to a colleague so that she can estimate the factor scores from each of the item scales. In SPSS AMOS I just ask for the factor score weights. But I can't find a way to do it in Mplus. Is it possible? If yes, how? Thanks. |

See the FSCOEFFICIENT option in the user's guide. Why don't you just save the factor scores in Mplus. |

Dear Linda, Thanks for your prompt response. We are giving a formulae to colleagues who use our scale for them to calculate the scores for each factor. Best Joćo |

... but, I still have a problem: The FSCOEFFICIENT is "It is available only for TYPE=GENERAL and TYPE=COMPLEX with all continuous dependent variables". Thus I got this error message *** WARNING in OUTPUT command FSCOEFFICIENT is not available for analysis with at least one categorical dependent variable. Request for FSCOEFFICIENT is ignored. All my variables (itens) are ordinal (3-point rating scale) thus I am using CATEGORICAL ARE ALL and WLMSV... Is there a way to get these factor weights from Ordinal variables? Some type of ordered logistic coefficients? Thanks. |

You cannot compute factor scores for categorical outcomes by hand. An iterative process is used. |
