Hello,

I was able to get my CFA syntax to run on a windows computer, but now the data file won't read in on a Mac (I get this error: *** ERROR in DATA command
The file specified for the FILE option cannot be found. Check that this
file exists: Macintosh HD:/Users/elizabethkarberg/Desktop/Mplus/CFA.csv).

I am using this syntax:

Data: FILE IS "Macintosh HD:/Users/elizabethkarberg/Desktop/Mplus/CFA.csv";

Is there any information about how to troubleshoot this? I used the same procedure on the windows computer and it worked fine. I do not have access to the windows computer anymore, so I need to get this to work on a Mac.

Thanks!

You need to remove the “Machintosh HD:” from the FILE specification.

I am also getting the same error. I do not have the Macintosh HD either. I cant seem to find any way to make it work. Even if I use .dat or .csv, the error is the same.

DATA: FILE IS

“/Users/Triparna/Desktop/MPlus/mplus_data.csv";

OR

DATA: FILE IS

“/Users/Triparna/Desktop/MPlus/mplus_data.dat";

Search for the data set name as you have typed it in the input file to see if it can be found.

Thank you so much for responding!

Yes, there is a .dat file. In fact, I put them all into the MPlus Analyses folder in the Home folder of my mac. I also have the .csv file in there. I even tried running the program from the terminal. I am not sure why it wont work!

Dear Mrs. Muthen,

In a dat file, do you use a period or comma for figures with decimal places?

Thanks

Period.
