Hi Mplus community, I am trying to run a simple factor model with maximum liklihood estimation. I keep getting this error message (below) OR an error message #59: *** ERROR in DATA command The file specified for the FILE option cannot be found. Check that this file exists: assignment3data.txt My syntax is: TITLE: Assignment 3 Model 1 DATA: FILE IS assignment3data.txt; TYPE IS MEANS STD CORR; NOBS IS 222; VARIABLE: NAMES ARE V1-V9; MODEL: F1 BY V1-V9; F1@1; OUTPUT: SAMPSTAT STANDARDIZED; Many thanks in advance! If the data set is not in the directory where you are working, use a full path. Search for assignment3data.txt to make sure you have not misspelled the data set name. If you can't figure it out, send the output, data set, and your license number to support@statmodel.com. |

Search for the data set using the path you give. You may have a mistake in the specification. |

I have exactly the same problem. I have triple checked my spelling. Both files are saved in the same location. What can I do to rectify this? |

To see the mistake, we need to see the data and the output file - send to Support along with your license number. |
