Hi there,

I'm trying to determine Mplus syntax to calculate the explained common variance - I am estimating a bifactor model using WLSMV

My input thus far is:

TITLE:bi-factor

DATA:FILE IS data2.dat;

VARIABLE:NAMES ARE bdi1-bdi21;
CATEGORICAL ARE bdi1-bdi21;
MISSING ARE bdi1-bdi21(-99);

MODEL:G BY bdi1-bdi21;
F1 BY bdi2 bdi3 bdi5 bdi6 bdi7 bdi8 bdi9 bdi14;
F2 BY bdi15 bdi16 bdi18 bdi19 bdi20;
G WITH F1@0 F2@0;
F1 WITH F2@0;

OUTPUT: SAMPSTAT STDYX MOD(3.84);

From what I have found so far, I believe I need to add a MODEL CONSTRAINT to my output - I am just unsure what the specific syntax for this is...

Apologies if this is a poorly worded question or has been answered elsewhere - I am a novice CFA/Mplus user

Thanks in advance,
Emma

If you want to know the % variance explained in each outcome as a function of all factors influencing the outcome, just ask for the standardized solution in the Output command. If you want the variance explained by the general factor just multiply the squared loading by the factor variance.

Thanks very much, Bengt
