Command Blocking! PreviousNext

Dear Sir/Madam

two quick questions

1. can we block multiple lines ... in MPlus we can do line by line blocking putting "note of exclamation sign" preceding each command line ... but I was looking for some way to block more than one line at one instant

2. can we run a model selectively in MPlus ... the reason I'm saying so ... quite often we need to check different models using the same data set and we need not to create separate files every time for different models in that case

thanks and regards ...Sanjoy

You need to put an ! before each line that you do not want read.

I'm not sure what you mean by number 2. You can estimate only one model per analysis. Several analyses can read the same data.

Well madam .... this is what I have meant

say this is the file name d:\sanjoy1.inp
the program follows like this

TITLE: first paper etc
DATA: FILE IS d:\mpluspaper1.txt;
NAMES ARE X1-X19 Y1-Y4 XB1-XB6 XP1-XP9 R1-R9 B1-B11 T1-T4;

MODEL: B by B6-B8;
R by R7-R9;
Y1 on B R X7-X12;
B on R X2 X8 X9 X11 X15 X9 X10;
R on B X5 X9 X10 X12;

Now I want to put restriction on model parameter and re-estimate the model ...say this is what I have done

MODEL: B by B6-B8;
R by R7-R9;
Y1 on B R X7-X12;
B on R@0 X2 X8 X9 X11 X15 X9 X10;
R on B@0 X5 X9 X10 X12;

Now my question WAS can we put both the models in the same file ... and run, I found MPlus can't ...then I thought it might be convenient for the user if we have a provision like "drag and select" the lower model or so and run it separately ... I found MPlus doesn't have any provision like that ... not that, not having these features is causing any qualitative difference ... but I just want to make it sure

thanks to both of you professor ... besides MPlus being an excellent software, the online helps are simply stupendous fact, had there been no MPlus, it would have been insurmountably difficult for me to finish my dissertation

Sincerely ...Sanjoy

No, the features you want do not exist at this time.
