When comparing models, is the chi-square difference test or the difference in BIC values more conservative? |

Also, can you use BIC difference on a nested model? |

BIC can be used for both nested and non-nested model. See also our BIC FAQ. I don't think you can really compare chi-2 and BIC since the former is inferential and the latter is descriptive. |
