Dear Linda/Bengt,
I see from your handouts that changing the reference category in an LCA is done by setting the intended normative class' starting values to zero using item means.
For example, for class #1 in your NLSY example, [property$1-goods$1*0];

How can this be done in a CFA mixture model, where I have a CFA with a latent class variable predicting the CFA's factors? Which variables' starting values would I change - would it be the factors?

The normative (reference) class is the last class. In this example threshold start values 3 are used because the last class should have low probabilities for the items.

In a CFA mixture you would also work with the thresholds.
