Hello, I am centering an independent variable about the grand mean and the result is a positive effect of my variable (ADHD-inattention) on nicotine dependence trend. The effect is positive. How do I interpret this? is it a unit change from the grand mean? However, as one can be below or above the grand mean, is it a unit change in the positive direction?

Centering does not change the interpretation. For a one unit change in ADHD, nicotine dependence increases beta.
