Monte Carlo data generation for DTSA ... |

Hi, I'm new to the Monte Carlo method and I am trying to conduct a post-hoc power analysis for a discrete-time survival model with 23 binary indicators, 13 binary covariates and 2 continuous covariates (similar to ex 11.8). Five of the binary covariates are dummy coded ethnicity variables, so I was wondering if it is possible to generate these variables so that they are mutually exclusive of one another. If not, how should I approach generating this variable (as a nominal variable with five levels)? Thanks for the help. |

I don't think this can be done in Mplus. You would need to generate the data outside of Mplus. You could generate four variables and cut them and fix their corelations to zero but I don't think that will guarantee that the variables are mutually exclusive of one another. |
