I'm running a 10-variable EFA. 2 of the variables don't load well on a 2-factor solution so I want to exclude them. How should it programmed? I ask because I get different results with Model 1 and Model 2 but I'm thinking it should be the same, no? As you can see, Model 2 simply excludes the two variables from the Variable Name list whereas Model 1 specifies "UseVariables". Model 1: Variable: Names are tch01_1 tch02_1 tch03_1 tch04_1 tch05_1 tch06_1 tch07_1 tch08_1 tch09_1 tch10_1 ; UseVariables are tch01_1 tch02_1 tch03_1 tch04_1 tch07_1 tch08_1 tch09_1 tch10_1 ; Missing = all (-1234) ; Categorical are tch01_1 - tch10_1 ; Model 2: Variable: Names are tch01_1 tch02_1 tch03_1 tch04_1 tch07_1 tch08_1 tch09_1 tch10_1 ; Missing = all (-1234) ; Categorical are tch01_1 - tch10_1 ; |

The USEVARIABLES option specifies the variables to be used in the analysis. If you don't want all variables listed using the NAMES option to be used in the analysis, you must use the USEVARIABLES option. Taking variables off of the NAMES list just makes the data be read incorrectly. See the user's guide for a description of how the options work. |
