Hello,

Can EFA simulations be done with EFA in Mplus? Can data be simulated with the EFA model in Mplus?

You need to do the EFA using the ESEM models introduced in Version 5.1. See the examples addendum and language addendum on the website with the user's guide.

Just so I understand this correctly, you are saying you can no longer use the ANALYSIS command to simulate EFA data, but you can still simulate strictly EFA factor loading matrices using the MODEL command. I've already simulated EFA data this "updated" way and just wanted to make sure it was okay. The "Monte Carlo EFA has been disallowed" made confused me a little. As always, thank you Linda!

TYPE=EFA is not available with Monte Carlo. There were problems with the factor order changing in different replications. The new ESEM avoids this and estimates the same model.
