I am trying to analyze a similar model with the demo version of Mplus, to find out whether it can handle the problems I want to handle: X -> Y - X is a dichotomous variable or a categorial varialbe with a handful of categories. - Y is a latent variable The interaction between X and Y is moderated by another dichotomous or categorial variable M. How can that be handled using MPlus? If X and M were continous I would just use product terms... |

You can use m as a grouping variable. |

Thanks for your fast reply, but I wanted to avoid multi-group analysis... Isn't there a way of handling that problem using the XWITH command or something like that, i.e. by calculating product terms like in the continous case? |

You can create interactions between X and M. So with both being say binary, you could create 3 binary dummy variables. |
