Hello, I am developing a multilevel model. In my multilevel model, the program reads the within, but starts almost immediately at the between section. The problem appears to be that my denotion of the "fb" is not known to the program. Below is the model section of the program that I am developing, but I am lost as to what the problem may be? How do I get the Mplus program to recognize the "fb"? Oh, the multilevel model is a twolevel. I have not specified it as a random slope model. Thank you.

Model:
%Within%
fw by u3-u20;
f1w by y7 (1)
y8 (2)
y9 (3)
y10 (4);
fw on f1w y2;
%Between%
f1b = y7 (1)
y8 (2)
y9 (3)
y10 (4);
y7-y10@0;
y12@1; y13@1; y14@1;
y12*0; y13*0; y14*0;
f1b on y12 y13 y14;

Oh, I caught the problem. A silly mistake on my part.

Thanks

Hello,

I am still have trouble with my multilevel model. I can't seem to get the model to recognize some of my variables. I keep getting the following error message:
"Unknown variable in BETWEEN option:
y12-14"

I am also pasting in some syntax.

Variable: Names are y1-y10, u1-u20, y11-y14;
Usevariables are y1, y2, y7-y10, u3-u20, y11-y14;
Categorical are u3-u20;
Within = u3-u20;
Between = y12-14;
Cluster = y1;
Centering = Grandmean (y2, y7-y10, u3-u20);

I am using Type=Twolevel, but I can't seem to get this correct for the multilevel model. What can I do to get rid of this error message? Thanks in advance for your help.

You have a typo in the BETWEEN option. It should be y12-y14 (you are missing a y in front of y14).
