I was wondering if it is possible to fit growth curves under bi-factor specification? For example, a multidimensional construct with 4 specific factors and 1 general factor is repeatedly measured over 3 occasions. Is it possible, say, to fit 5 growth curves on each of the five factors?
A related question is on intercepts. I think in the bi-factor model, regardless of number of factors, there can only be one set of item intercepts. Does this mean that, even though there are 5 growth curves, there is some overlap in the variances of each set of baseline and slop factors due to the common item intercepts?
The changes in means over time is captured by the growth factor means of the four specific and one general factor. You would do this by extending the multiple indicator growth model described in either the Topic 3 or Topic 4 course handout on the website.
