Hi, I'm using version 4.2 and recently have had difficulty with data read errors. It seems that the program stops reading after x number of variables, depending on the application. For example, in running a one-factor CFA with 154 polytomous items, the item variances after item 75 read a variance of zero. The error given is: *** ERROR One or more variables have a variance of zero. Check your data and format statement. Secondly, in running a 2-parameter IRT, the 126th variable is read incorrectly. The error given is: *** ERROR Categorical variable PPI121 contains less than 2 categories. If I do not include this specific variable, I get the same error for the subsequent variable. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark |

It sounds like because of listwise deletion, you end up with no variance or only one category of a variable. If you can't figure this out, send your input, data, output, and license number to support@statmodel.com. I suggest updating to Version 5. |
