I am very new to SEM so I apologize in advance for this basic question.

Across 2 countries, I'm trying to establish measurement invariance of one factor with 7 items loading onto it. My syntax is below. Even though the model runs seemingly without errors, the factor loadings in the output are not the same so I don't think my constraints are working. Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you!

GROUPING IS Country (1=A 2=B);

ANALYSIS: TYPE = GENERAL;

MODEL:

C_EmphSucc BY acgmr01
acgmr04
acgmr06
acgmr09
acgmr10
acgmr13
acgmr14;

[C_EmphSucc@0];
C_EmphSucc@1;

MODEL A:

C_EmphSucc BY acgmr01(1)
acgmr04(2)
acgmr06(3)
acgmr09(4)
acgmr10(5)
acgmr13(6)
acgmr14(7);

[C_EmphSucc@0];
C_EmphSucc@1;

MODEL B:

C_EmphSucc BY acgmr01(1)
acgmr04(2)
acgmr06(3)
acgmr09(4)
acgmr10(5)
acgmr13(6)
acgmr14(7);

The equalities should be placed in the overall MODEL command. However, the default is to hold the factor loadings and intercepts equal across groups. See Chapter 14 of the user's guide. To see the inputs to test for measurement invariance of continuous items see multiple group analysis in the Topic 1 course handout on the website. See also the Version 7.1 Mplus Language Addendum on the website with the user's guide to see new options that test for measurement invariance automatically.
