Hi Dr. Muthen,

I have another question about my 2-1-1 mediation MSEM model where the analysis is TWOLEVEL RANDOM.

When I use a DV variable that has a normal distribution, I obtain results but also receive the following warnings:

*** WARNING in MODEL command. In the MODEL command, the following variable is a y-variable on the BETWEEN level and an x-variable on the WITHIN level. This variable will be treated as a y-variable on both levels [it then lists my level1 within person mediator variable].

*** WARNING
One or more individual-level variables have no variation within a cluster for the following clusters. [it then lists my level 1 within person mediator and DV variable]

I'm not quite sure what these warnings mean and how to address these warnings in mplus.

Here is what my code looks like:

USEVARIABLES ARE
id x m y;
BETWEEN IS x;
CLUSTER IS id;
MISSING=.;
ANALYSIS: TYPE IS TWOLEVEL RANDOM;
MODEL:
%WITHIN%
m y;
y ON m;
%BETWEEN%
x m y;
m on x(a);
y on m(b);
y on x;
MODEL CONSTRAINT:
NEW(indb);
indb=a*b;
OUTPUT: TECH1 TECH8 CINTERVAL;

Thanks for your help!
