Dear Prof. Muthen/s and the rest of the MPlus using folks,

Could anyone suggest some good references on Hierarchical Linear Models and Diagnostics?

In particular, I am looking for Normality testing under Hierarchical structure. More precisely, I am looking for Skewness, Kurtosis and Omnibus test (D'Agostino) for two-level and three-level HLM model.

Thanks
Sanjoy

PS: I posted the same question on SEMNET archives two days before, but very surprisingly no body responded. I wonder whether it reached at all, since it doesn't appear in my inbox either.

I have found the Fitzmaurice, Laird and Ware (2004) Wiley book "Applied longitudinal analysis" useful. Chapter 9 talks about residuals and diagnostics. I can't recall reading about normality testing in such contexts - perhaps authors feel that non-normality is handled by the non-normality robust techniques such as sandwich estimators which are now commonplace.
