Dear professor,

I'm new to MPlus and I would like to add a moderator variable (achievement level going from 1 to 3) to my multilevel model.
I have no idea which syntax I should use.

You can find (a part) of the input for the multilevel analysis below:

%within%
X on achiev1 achiev3 Gender;
Y on achiev1 achiev3 Geslacht;
...

%between%
X on A B C D E;
Y on A B C D E;
...

Now I would like to know whether the relation X ON A/B/C/D/E is different according to the achievement level of the student. I would thus like to add achievement as a moderating variable at the between level. Could you give me any advice on how to do this?

Thank you very much in advance!

Kind regards,
Sofie

The easiest way is to create cluster means for the achievement variables, create products between those and A-E using Define, and include on Between.
