I apologize for this, as I know very little about SEM so far. I did a EFA and discarded a couple variables. However, because of this, one factor now only has one variable associated with it:

X1 by Y1 Y2 Y3
X2 by Y4 Y5
X3 by Y6

How does one manage this in MPlus? Does the X3 factor simply get omitted from the analysis?

If you have only one factor indicator, just use the observed variable in the analysis. A factor with one indicator is identical to the observed variable.

So how would I write that in the model section of a CFA (based on the above example)? Like this?

X1 by Y1 Y2 Y3
X2 by Y4 Y5
Y6
