I performed an EFA on a 37 item instrument and ended up having a 7 factor solution. I then performed a CFA and ended up with Standardized loadings greater than 1. Do you have any ideas as to why this might be happening?
Thank you!

Standardized loadings can be greater than 1 with correlated factors. This is not a problem. See, e.g.,

Pursuant this conversation, how do we determine which items to retain when we have factor loadings >1? We performed a geomin roation on 25 items with 205 subjects. Literature suggests that items loading <.40 should not be retained, but none of our items load <.40. Our largest item loads 10.60 on one factor.

Thank you.

This question is more appropriate for a general discussion forum like SEMNET.
