I am wondering if it is possible to have a second-order formative indicator. Basically I have three formative indicators which are each made up of three items. There is then another overarching formative indicator which is made up of the other three sub formative indicators. I have come up with the following based on syntax I have gleaned from the internet, but when I add it into my model, it doesn't seem to work well. ITSE_cy BY; ITSE_cy ON ITSE1@1 ITSE2 ITSE3; ITSE_cy@0; ITSE1 WITH ITSE2 ITSE3; ITSE2 WITH ITSE3; ITSE_ga BY; ITSE_ga ON ITSE4@1 ITSE5 ITSE6; ITSE_ga@0; ITSE4 WITH ITSE5 ITSE6; ITSE5 WITH ITSE6; ITSE_ro BY; ITSE_ro ON ITSE7@1 ITSE8 ITSE9; ITSE_ro@0; ITSE7 WITH ITSE8 ITSE9; ITSE8 WITH ITSE9; ITSE BY; ITSE ON ITSE_cy@1 ITSE_ga ITSE_ro; ITSE@0; |

In a formative model, there must be one observed variable that the factors influence. |
