I'm running what should be a fairly straightforward mediation with 1 continuous IV, 3 continuous mediators, and 1 dichotomous DV. However, my output tells me that my DV has 33 categories, when it should have 2.

I get this message (input included)

INPUT INSTRUCTIONS

TITLE: ROBERT'S DISSERTATION;
DATA: FILE IS "E:\dissertation\mplus all data.dat";
VARIABLE: NAMES ARE rot NeoOpent Zinf Znorm ZDA;
CATEGORICAL ARE rot;
USEVARIABLES ARE rot NeoOpent Zinf Znorm ZDA;

MODEL: rot ON Zinf Znorm ZDA NeoOpenT;
Zinf ON NeoOpent;
Znorm ON NeoOpent;
ZDA ON NeoOpent;

MODEL INDIRECT: rot IND NeoOpent;

*** ERROR
Categorical variable ROT contains 33 categories.
This exceeds the maximum allowed of 10.

It actually runs if I don't tell the program to treat "rot" as categorical, but I don't believe I'd actually get an output that correctly tests my model. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

It sounds like you are reading your data incorrectly. Check that you are receiving the correct number of observations and that you don't have blanks in the data set. If you cannot figure it out, please send the input, data, output, and your license number to support@statmodel.com.
