Hello, I have a complex sample with 15 strata and values of 1 or 2 in the PSU/Secu variable. Normally I would have 15 df when analyzing using SAS or Stata with strata (15) * PSU (2)- strata (15)=30-15=15df.

In order to use Mplus I created a concatenated variable of strata||PSU so that I have unique strata/PSU identifiers but my question is then how to arrive at the original 15 rather than 30 df for significance testing. Is there an option in Mplus to declare PSU nested within strata? Thanks Pat Berglund.

You should use the STRATIFICATION option to specify the stratification variable and the CLUSTER option to specify the cluster variable. Please send your output and license number so I can see what you mean by the degrees of freedom.
